We Are The
Mountain.

We are not a travel agency dropped in from the city. We are the Bakonzo people. Guided by the sons of the soil, your journey begins where the road ends.

Our Story

From the Shadows
To The Summit.

For too long, the Rwenzoris have been a hidden secret, receiving only about 1,000 visitors a year. We founded Rwenzori Hantravel Safaris to reclaim the narrative of our home.

We are a collective of local guides, porters, and conservationists born in the foothills. We know every valley, every river, and every peak because this is our backyard. We are not just showing you a mountain; we are inviting you into our home.

“We founded this company to create jobs for our youth and keep our culture alive.”

Our Mission

“To lead safe, world-class expeditions that protect the Rwenzori wilderness and ensure every step up the mountain lifts our community up with it.”

We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between a professional adventure and a responsible one. We combine rigorous safety standards with strict low-impact environmental policies. But our purpose extends beyond the trail—we ensure fair wages for every guide and porter, meaning your trek directly supports the families of Kasese. When you climb with us, you aren’t just a visitor; you are a partner in preserving this land and its people.

The Vision

Vision 2030

Kilimanjaro sees 50,000 visitors. The Rwenzoris? Barely 1,000.

We are not here to play small. Our goal is to grow our visitor numbers to 20,000 adventurers annually. This isn’t about vanity metrics; it’s about putting food on local tables. Every trek booked with us supports a porter’s family in Kasese.

100% Local

Profits stay in Kasese, building schools and clinics.

Zero Waste

We adhere to strict “Leave No Trace” policies to protect our glaciers.
