Experience the Medley of Wonders
From the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha to the hippos of Kazinga Channel. Discover the ultimate Uganda safari with Rwenzori Han Travel.
Welcome to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Located in western Uganda against the backdrop of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, Queen Elizabeth National Park stands as a biodiversity hotspot and a crown jewel of Uganda safaris. Spanning over 1,978 sq km, the park hosts over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species. Whether you search for the elusive Ishasha tree-climbing lions, track chimpanzees in the depths of Kyambura Gorge, or witness the world’s largest concentration of hippos on a Kazinga Channel boat cruise, this park offers a safari experience unlike any other. At Rwenzori Han Travel, we craft bespoke itineraries that take you beyond the ordinary.

Kazinga Channel

Kyambura Gorge

Kasenyi Plains
Enjoy the classic game drive experience. Spot Uganda Kobs, buffaloes, and stalking leopards.
The Tree Climbing Lions of Ishasha
You can observe one of the most unique wildlife behaviors in the world in the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Unlike lions elsewhere, the local prides climb large fig trees to rest during the heat of the day.
This behavior protects them from ground insects and offers a cool breeze, alongside a strategic vantage point to spot unsuspecting prey like the Uganda Kob. A game drive through Ishasha with Rwenzori Han Travel gives you the best chance to witness this rare phenomenon, along with sightings of topis and buffaloes.
- Best viewed on midday game drives.
- Only found here and in Lake Manyara, Tanzania.
- Located en route to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel crowns any safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This 32km natural channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and boasts one of the highest densities of hippos in Africa.
As you drift silently along the banks, you will float meters away from herds of elephants drinking at the water’s edge, Nile crocodiles basking in the sun, and a dazzling array of water birds including the African Fish Eagle, Pied Kingfisher, and Great White Pelicans. It forms a true photographer’s paradise.
