Expedition Overview

The 3-Day Mahoma Loop is the ultimate introductory trek for nature lovers, hikers, and birdwatchers. This beautiful, short circuit provides a spectacular look at the incredibly diverse ecology of the Rwenzori Mountains without requiring a grueling multi-day high-altitude ascent.

Starting at the Nyakalengija basecamp, you will climb through rich montane rainforests and transition into dense, atmospheric bamboo groves. The absolute highlight of the trip is camping alongside the crystal-clear waters of Lake Mahoma, the largest crater lake in the Rwenzori range, before descending via a scenic, winding ridge back to civilization.
