Starting at the Nyakalengija basecamp, you’ll hike alongside the Mubuku River. The trail is incredibly rich in biodiversity; keep an eye out for blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and the vibrant Rwenzori Turaco as you ascend to the cozy Nyabitaba Hut, surrounded by forest and towering peaks.

Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut
Begin your hike from the basecamp through thick equatorial rainforest. The trail winds alongside the Mubuku River. Listen for the calls of chimpanzees, and watch out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and the vibrant Rwenzori Turaco as you make the steady climb up to Nyabitaba Hut.
Nyabitaba Hut to Basecamp
After breakfast and taking in the morning views of the Portal Peaks, you will begin your descent. You retrace your steps back down through the lush tropical rainforest to the Nyakalengija Basecamp to complete your overnight adventure.
